What was the plan?

The plan, from Winston's point of view, was to capture the Dardanelles and eliminate Turkey, one of Germany's strongest allies (Cameron, 2011). The complicated part though was how the Allies were going to do this.
Winston first planned to attack the Turks with many Navy attacks from the French through the Dardanelles, then themselves. They would then send in the ANZACs near the North-West side of the Peninsula is all else failed, to land on the shore and break through the lines of the Turkish and capture the Dardanelles. The Turkish also had a plan though, and unfortunately, it was a much more successful plan. They were very well prepared for these French attacks, and responded very well to Britain and France's bad leadership. They had placed landmines very strategically to stop the Allies progress and get them trapped in a position. They had the advantage on land and took out the Allies easily. |
