During World War 1, a future British war mastermind, Winston Churchill, had come up with a plan to capture the Dardanelles, and defeat the Ottoman Empire, while re-supplying their allies, the Russians. When the Turks heard of this plan, it sparked them, and this was how the Battle of Gallipoli started.

Battle of Gallipoli WW1World War 1 was the first war between two groups of countries, the Triple Alliance, consisting of France, Britain and Russia and the Triple Entente, consisting of Germany, Turkey and Austria-Hungary. The war finally sparked over many decades and was due to the assassination of Franz Ferdinand and past experiences with each other.
