Perspective of the French
The French were the first army from the Allies to attack the Gallipoli Peninsula. They fought for Churchill and Britain. This was a naval attack, and over 15,000 French troops died. The British had planned for the French to come in with many navy ships, and secure one of the many points of the Gallipoli Peninsula (Dardanelles campaign, 2013). The French were at first alarmed at the British plans but it did not take much for the British to persuade them into following their campaign. Once the French got in range of the shore, the Turkish were prepared. They had strategically placed mines so that the French could not get through, and also to the surprise of the French, the Turkish were powerful enough to take out their best naval ship plus the rest of the ships after. After this first attack failed, the French were furious at the Britain for this foolish plan (Heyningen, 2001).
