The Turkish army or Ottoman Empire, were the defendants and current owners of the Gallipoli Peninsula. Led by a man called Otto Liman von Sanders, the Turkish prepared themselves for the attacks from the Allies. The Turks fought to defend the coast of the Peninsula. These attacks though were very badly mismanaged (World War 1: Battle of Gallipoli, 2013). The Turks held their lines easily and were only pushed back once by the ANZACs. The badly managed campaign meant that the Turkish could resist the Allies attack and keep their territory. The Turkish did not go unscarred though. They had the most amounts of casualties out of all the countries that fought at Gallipoli, having 56, 643 dead. (Gallipoli Campaign, 2013)
